]]>IF you were to compare it to a Sword and Shield style game , it still has those same things. But they are called different things.
There are three base types for you to make , Science , Tactical , Engineer. These are you " Types" IE Class.
Tank = Engineering
DPS = Tactical
Healer = Science
I should note that at any time you can put power into your shields , weapons , speed , or balance them out as you wish.
Now the above classes are more or less losly based on what you start at , not what you can do. Once you make your " Char/Ship " this will be your captian. The Kirk of the Shits. You can pick ( i picked random live form so i wouldn't a faggot ass Vulcan QQer ).

There is two different "styles" of play in the game... if you HAVE EVER seen a Star Trek show you know what i mean... They go to X Place with a ship and see some X thing and have to help X person and X person becomes X foe and X friend needs helps etc etc. So the "quests" even though we call them Mishs
(it's a CoX thing)
1st Style is your Ship , many mishs you will roll in with you ship kill off X fools in space combat , maybe collect some space funk on the way? This is where your powers as a captain come into place. You have full control over what you do , Power to the sheilds , weapons , and some random skills you can use like "Fire at Will " , those skills are based off the officers you have which i'll get into later.
2nd Style is your Away team , or Ground as i will call it. Your Ground Team will be you if you choice plus whatever person you select to go down with you. Bring a Officer, bring a Peon , bring no one. Solo it ( Can only solo a few i've found so far ). Ground Combat throws you into a (Tabula Rasa if you played it) Person to Person combat with weapons. NOW as a Captain , you have a small amount control over these fools with you (Like most Single Player RPGS , they Assist off you or set them to a Task ) , so they follow you around , you can ept them with weapons , armor and devices. Like give you 5th guy a stun ray or 4th guy with a AOE Knock Back or 3rd guy with a Sniper or 2nd guy with a healing thingy , can go full offense or defense. At the same time you can Skill them ALL up to up there powers , IE your SCI Officer is Uber X but low X , this is the same thing with Ship combat , but you need to select different skills.

BASIC SHIP CONTROL 2.0
OK. Now we got our Captain , now we need some Officers yea? Just like the shows , you can pick a Sci , Tac or Eng Officer. The one you PICK. Is the skills they have. You can level up there skills , but you can buy a different one later. So if you do what i did , you select a team to annoy the enemy. Shut there Sheilds down. Chain Fire. Insta Sheilds. I guess i can solo the impossiable with my build , so they say. But most players atm are all DPS or Tank. Now you will have three Officers with " Skills " they can use , there skills are on timers... but the higher those skills get the faster the cool down or higher the dmg etc , like most. Of course there is a cap for the skill. All three of you officers will have skills you can use. I use a Tac , Sci , Eng Officer , all i can get with my ship , not sure if you can ever get more. Not sure if you can do a Tac , Tac , Sci even. Which would be stupid OP , so i doubt it. My Friend in the dev team has told me that 70% of the game at release will be Ship combat , so it's most important to get it down , and the ground shit is pretty damn simple anyways. Aswell ship combat isn't to hard once you get the idea down... But if you group up with a solid team.,.. it;s game over for the enemy. But again manybe thats becuase all i do is kill there sheilds to shit.
BASIC FLIGHT 2.0
This won't take long , E = Throttle , Q = Less Throttle , S = Up , W = Down , D = Right , A = Left , Click you Throttle Bar and you will hit Max Impules Engines and go nuts ( You will Lose all Sheild and Weapons if you do so ) , great for travel though , just don't get closer then 10KM with it on.
SHEILD CONTROL 2.0
So Sheilds. Now this has alot to do with what power source you end putting in your slot. Like more Sheild Regen or just Higher Sheilds , or even if you end up playing a Fighter type. You will see you ship in your HUD and four arrows with your sheild hull in the middle. Now if you use arrow key Up this will up your forward shields . left arrow key increase to the power to left sheilds , right arrow key power to right sheilds , down key power to rear sheilds , seams simple neuff ya? If you are getting covered by many mobs/ships at once you can just click the center and all sheild will even out. But you will Drain power from all to even them out and most likly will get rocked from a mob from left or forward. So make sure to control you ships flight path.
WEAPON ARRAY 2.0 ( Still Testing )
Well shit. As far as i have gone in the game , you have three weapon slots , this is the starting ship , theres like 17+. Main weapon slots can be changed to what kinda dmg you want to agianst a enemy ship , like pound him with photon torpedos or phase cannons , or both. You need to angle youself at a fronal arc or some or rear for others. Then theres Mines you can drop on there heads that do alot of DMG , but they can blow them up if targeted ( PVP Winner right there ). There is alot of things i have tested yet when it comes to ship weapons , so bare with me on that , just trying to get to the new ships atm.
